Dr. Laura DeVincentis

Laura M. DeVincentis graduated from Cleveland State University in 1991 with a degree in Psychology. Realizing the potential strength of incorporating the mind-body paradigm into the healing arts, she decided to pursue medical school. While completing her pre-medical course work and researching medical school programs, she found the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) located in Portland Oregon. At that time, NCNM was one of only four Naturopathic Institutions accredited by the Council of Naturopathic Medical Examiners (CNME) and recognized by the Department of Education.

As she continued her pre-med courses, she also began working with herbs, homeopathy and various methods of enhancing one’s health from a holistic perspective. The multiple health benefits she experienced confirmed her decision to attend a naturopathic medical school. In 1995 she embarked on the journey of a lifetime as her education began at NCNM. The Naturopathic Doctor (N.D) degree blends conventional sciences with traditional naturopathic modalities. In her fourth year at NCNM, she began the Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) program. This degree includes areas of study including Chinese theory, Acupuncture, Qi Gong and Herbology.

While attending NCNM, she preceptored with Dr. Frackelton at Preventive Medicine Group. These experiences revealed their common interests and resonating goals to provide holistic care and the cultivation of health conscious choices. After completing both degrees at NCNM, she returned home to Cleveland and began to practice with Preventive Medicine Group.

Dr. DeVincentis maintains a holistic view of health and healing. Encompassing a wide breadth of knowledge, she focuses much of her practice towards the use of Acupuncture and energy modulation. She is a Diplomate of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and fully certified by the Ohio State Medical Board to practice Acupuncture in the state of Ohio. She also maintains current licensure to practice as an N.D. in the state of Oregon. (Presently the state of Ohio does not offer licensure to N.D.’s.) Dr. DeVincentis is the Vice President of the Ohio Chapter of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OCAANP) and an active participant in the pursuit of licensing N.D.’s in Ohio.

Dr. DeVincentis has had additional training in Homeopathy, CranioSacral Therapy, Reiki, Chelation Therapy, and the use of color and sound combined with acupuncture theory. She is a member of the Ohio Chapter of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OCAANP), the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance (AOMALLIANCE) and the Ohio Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (OAAOM).
