What is Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT)?

IPT is an innovative treatment for cancer discovered more than sixty years ago in Mexico City. Over the past twenty-five years, Steven G. Ayre, M.D. of the United States has worked with people in Mexico to provide a sound scientific basis for the therapy and to get documentation of this published in the scientific medical literature.

Cancer cells get their energy by secreting their own insulin. They stimulate themselves to grow by secreting their own insulin-like growth factor (IGF). These are the mechanisms of malignancy. Insulin and IGF work by attaching to special cell membrane receptors. These receptors are ten times more concentrated on cancer cell membranes than on normal cells making them much more effective at bringing in the increased glucose they need. These receptors are the key to IPT. Using insulin in IPT drops the blood glucose level, which opens up the receptors.  This makes it possible for 1/10 the normal dose of chemotherapy to work more effectively with less dose-related side effects. The end result is the chemotherapy drugs target the cancer cells with little or no effects on normal tissues. Thus, IPT avoids the dose-related side effects of chemotherapy. Free of chemotherapy side effects, patients receiving IPT are much more able to work on nutrition and mind-body medicine.

At what stage of cancer is IPT most effective?

As with different treatments for any kind of cancer, clinical experience indicates that the benefits of IPT are optimal in cases of newly diagnosed disease. IPT can also be of value in the management of patients with advanced or metastatic cancer. The low-dose treatment allows patients to benefit from chemotherapy, without the usual concurrent risks of serious toxicity from the treatment itself.

What other treatment options for cancer does PMG offer?

Preventive Medicine Group has many other techniques that are effective in cancer treatment. Nutrition plays an important role. Megadoses of nutrients, both oral and intravenous, and hyperbaric oxygen are therapies we utilize to strengthen healthy cells and kill cancer cells.
