What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese healing art which was brought back into modern day usage by Jiro Murai, a descendent of a long line of Japanese healers. With access to ancient archives, Mr. Murai studied Jin Shin Jyutsu in an effort to restore health in his own life and experienced amazing results. Mr. Murai shared his knowledge with an American/Japanese woman by the name of Mary Burmeister who, in turn, brought the knowledge of Jin Shin Jyutsu to the United States in the 1970s. The benefits of Jin Shin Jyutsu have prompted interest from many people involved in the healing arts. The treatment is a very pleasant and relaxing non-invasive procedure.
How does Jin Shin Jyutsu work?
The Jin Shin Jyutsu philosophy holds that the physical body has a matching energy template or blueprint. This energy template can be damaged by various insults, as in damage to the physical body or by emotional states such as worry, anger, fear or grief. If the energy template does not heal, the physical body is more likely to break down. Physical body breakdown can cause increased damage to the energy template, which can again have an adverse effect on the physical body. Thus, breakdown can become a downward spiral. This is why many people suffer from chronic illness. A point is reached in which damage to the energy template becomes so severe that less insult to the body causes greater damage. In the worst cases, the healing of both body and mind may seem impossible because the template is so susceptible to even the smallest of injuries or “dis-ease.” However, Jin Shin Jyutsu can help heal even the most severe cases.
We all know that we are more susceptible to common colds, flu and other ailments when we have experienced stress of any kind in our lives. Frequently, people who have undergone physical or emotional trauma become ill once it seems the trauma is over. Jin Shin Jyutsu bases its treatment on the knowledge that while the initial trauma seems resolved, there is still underlying damage to the energy template which needs resolution. The energy template can be improved by opening up energy “locks” through touch. When the energy template is strong and intact, the physical body is much more resistant to recurrent breakdown.
What is involved in getting a Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment?
A Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment takes about one hour. The number of treatments varies depending upon patient needs. Many health concerns can be resolved with ten sessions or less. At Preventive Medicine Group, Stanley M. Gardner, M.D. will assess the energy flows of the patient and recommend patterns of treatment based upon the patient’s circumstances. He is frequently assisted by a certified massage therapist who will work under his direction.
How can a person get started with Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments?
If you are not already an active patient of Preventive Medicine Group, it will be necessary to schedule an appointment with Stanley M. Gardner, M.D. for an initial consultation. Because total healing involves healing on the biochemical level as well as on the energy level, as a first step the doctor will take a health history, may perform a physical examination and will recommend laboratory testing of a conventional as well as nutritional nature. He will also get you started on a program of nutritional supplementation involving vitamins, minerals and other natural substances in pill form. Once you are established in this biochemical regimen, he will initiate the Jin Shin Jyutsu. If you are currently a patient of Preventive Medicine Group and already following the biochemical program of nutritional supplementation, ask your doctor to recommend the therapy or schedule an appointment directly with Dr. Gardner. For established patients, it is possible to work with Dr. Gardner and Jin Shin Jyutsu and still remain in your primary care relationship with one of the other Preventive Medicine Group physicians.
